Latency Issue Update – 13 July
Early this morning, NCsoft conducted maintenance at our data center in Frankfurt, Germany in a continuing effort to resolve latency issues experienced by those playing on or through the European servers. The problem is not internal to Guild Wars, but rather was related to data center routing gear. The hardware vendor identified an issue in the routing software that was patched during the maintenance. Early indications are that this has resolved the issue but the network teams at both ArenaNet and NCsoft will continue to monitor and work with the vendor if further measures are needed to resolve the matter.
In other news, some European players may have experienced a disconnection from the game at around 19:00 GMT this evening. We do not know the reason for this momentary disconnection, but our data shows that players were able to reconnect and play without trouble after the incident. We are working with hardware vendors and ISPs to determine the possible cause of the disconnect and to take whatever steps we can take to prevent it happening again in the future. |
